The name "String of Dolphins" is highly representative of the plant's features. Resembling dolphins leaping out of water, the leaves portray an ocean-like atmosphere. 

Height

On average, these plants grow to be 6 inches tall.

These plants are toxic to humans and pets, and should never be ingested under any circumstances.

CARE GUIDE

  • Light
    • This plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight. If placing indoors, a southern facing window is optimal.
  • Water
    • Regularly water the plant, allowing it to fully dry out before proceeding to water again. 
  • Temperature
    • During the winter, this plant can survive temperatures as low as 40°F. During the growing season, they like to rest at temperatures around 72°F.  
  • Humidity
    • Medium to high levels of humidity allow this plant to thrive
  • Soil
    • Rich, bark/peat based soils that are lightweight are optimal. It should be able to retain moisture, but not hold water.
  • Fertilizer
    • Give a diluted liquid fertilizer twice a year, once during the beginning of August and again when it blooms.
  • Re-potting
    • Every 2-3 years during the spring time.
